New Marshfield man arrested on theft charge - UPDATED

ATHENS – Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly announced Thursday that 40-year-old Kevin Ray Morris, of Center Street, was arrested on a charge of theft from the elderly.

Kelly said deputies reported on August 8, that Morris allegedly made withdrawals totally $1,650 from his mother’s account then deposited the funds in his account at a Texas bank. According to Kelly, Morris allegedly withdrew the money right after knowing that he did not have the money in his account to cover the withdrawals he made from his mother's account.

Kelly indicated Morris is also a person of interest in a recent robbery of the Little General Store in Albany. Morris is due to be transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in

Nelsonville.
