On Wednesday, Deputy Matt May,
assisted by Deputy Alan
Sullivan and Deputy Joel
Kelly, stopped a vehicle driven by Ian Stevers, 28, of Pomeroy, for a traffic violation.
Stevers was found to have an open warrant and was taken into custody.
Deputies allegedly found
a one unit dose of heroin in Stevers
possession. A passenger in Stevers’
vehicle, Rachel Gambill, 30, of Athens was also arrested after Deputy May allegedly found 6 grams of heroin in Gambill’s possession.
Stevers and Gambill were transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail (SEORJ) in Nelsonville.
Stevers was charged possession of drugs and
failure to appear. He appeared in Athens
Municipal Court Friday and was ordered held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond on
the drug charge and a $6,000 cash or surety bond on the failure to appear
charge.
Gambill faces charges of aggravated drug trafficking , aggravated
drug possession and tampering with evidence. Appearing Friday in Athens Municipal
Court, Gambill was ordered held on $10,000 cash or surety bonds on each charge.
