McArthur women held without bail on multiple drug charges

MCARTHUR - The village police department reported that on August 1 at approximately 7:32 p.m., Officer Hixson initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Engle Drive in for a minor traffic violation. According to Hixson, the driver, identified as Alisha Blanton, 37, of McArthur, consented to search the vehicle after Hixson observed what he described as criminal indicators.

The search yielded alleged multiple items of drug paraphernalia along with items which used in the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine. It is also alleged that Blanton had illegally requested others to purchase pseudoephedrine-based medication from multiple pharmacies in the area.

Blanton is being held without bail at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville pending an arraignment scheduled for Aug. 13.


A felony charge of possession of illegal chemicals for manufacture of methamphetamine, misdemeanor charges of unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine and possession of illegal drug paraphernalia have been forwarded to the Vinton County Prosecutor’s office. Other charges are pending the results of laboratory testing.
