Thousands without power in wake of central Ohio storms

UPDATE 6:20 P.M. Over 115,000 AEP customers without power

UPDATE: 6 p.m. 1,100 customers in Athens County without power


GAHANNA – According to American Electric Power (AEP), a broken line of thunderstorms moving across AEP central Ohio service territory has left over 66,000 customers without electricity. Hardest hit is Franklin County with over 25,000 outages.
As of 5 p.m. outages have been reported in several southeastern counties including Morgan, 144, Meigs, 366 and Fairfield, 3,099.
AEP Ohio said crews are prepared to begin restoring power to the company’s affected areas as soon as the storms pass and is urging customers in the storm's path to prepare for possible outages.
